ABOUT

My name is Mariana Panchuk. I am an artist from Ukraine currently based in Berlin – my second favourite city after my beloved hometown, Kyiv.

I have loved drawing since early childhood and especially enjoyed creating fictional images. After graduating from art school I decided to enroll at a design institute. Since finishing my studies, I have divided my time between my activity of freelance illustrator and graphic designer and working on my own art projects.

Most recently, I have decided to channel my passion for illustration in the creation of colouring books. After designing some for clients I eventually decided to create my own, the first one being Caleidoscope Of Fantasy. I find particularly fascinating the idea that people can directly interact with my drawings, establishing a connection between themselves and the book’s characters. In the future I would like to expand my work into a series of thematically linked colouring books.

Sometimes people ask me about the meaning of some of my works. Each of my drawings has a personal significance which I’m eager to share, but first I want to listen to the viewer and give them the possibility of discovering their own perceptions and associations. Often enough, people find their own interpretations that end up being the complete opposite of someone else’s. With this in mind, I believe that my work will reveal to the viewer something about themselves and the subconscious – a reflection of the inner world, both theirs and mine.
